To
provide expert construction consulting services to Owners, Developers,
Institutions and Lenders on major construction projects and real estate
investments resulting in efficient and cost effective project delivery
and timely completion.
Our
staff is composed entirely of experienced construction and real estate
professionals dedicated to providing timely and quality services to our
Clients. On each assignment, a Senior Associate is designated as the
primary point of contact for the Client and if appropriate, other
Associates may collaborate in order to draw on their specific areas of
expertise. As President of the firm, Dick May, is personally involved
in all Client assignments.
Since
the firm’s founding in 1987, consulting services have been provided on
over 500 projects with a total constructed value in excess of $4.5
billion. Our staff of seasoned construction and real estate
professionals makes R. C. May & Associates, Inc. one of New
England’s most experienced and diversified construction-consulting
firms.
The
following biographies offer a brief description our Principal and the
staff at R. C. May & Associates, Inc. All of our Associates are
qualified professionals in the construction and real estate industry
with a combined total of over 100 years of experience. They have all
previously held senior management positions in the construction
industry, and have the expertise to deal with the challenges of any
complex construction project.
Richard C. May – President and Principal
Since
founding the company in 1987, Dick May has been providing assistance to
financial institutions with construction loans including construction
project analysis, construction inspection and requisition approval and
with property evaluation and reconfiguration, and in-house training
services. He has advised real estate developers with construction cost
budgeting, architect and contractor selection, scheduling, contract
negotiation, and construction program management and has also has
served as an expert witness and assisted attorneys in case preparation
in a number of litigation actions.
Prior
to 1987, Dick worked in the construction industry for over twenty-five
years, holding many senior executive positions including President and
Chief Executive Officer of several major construction companies,
including Corcoran Construction Corporation; Cabot, Cabot & Forbes
(Aberthaw Construction Co.); Gilbane Building Co.; and Turner
Construction Company.
Dick
is a graduate of the State University of New York, at Delhi, NY, and
has been a director of the Associated Building Contractors of MA/RI,
and President of the New England Construction Users Council. He has
also been a member of the Massachusetts Building Congress and has
served as an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association. Dick
holds a Commonwealth of Massachusetts Construction Supervisors License. Ritvars F. Reinbergs – Senior Associate
Rit
has over thirty five years of experience in the construction industry,
having held many senior positions with construction contractors and
construction managers including Vice President, Project Executive,
Project Manager, and Manager of Planning and Estimating. His career in
construction gives him extensive knowledge of building systems,
construction costs, value engineering techniques, and a thorough
understanding of the various types of construction contracts. He also
has project management experience on many types of projects.
Rit
has an M.S. in Construction Management from Stanford University, B.S.
in Civil Engineering from University of Massachusetts, and is a Member
of Boston Society of Architects and the International Society of
Pharmaceutical Engineers. Rit also holds a Commonwealth of
Massachusetts Construction Supervisors License, and a LEEDS
certification.
Al Skomial – Senior Associate
Al
has over 36 years experience in the construction industry, starting his
career as an engineer’s helper performing construction layout. While
attending college, he worked as a residential carpenter building luxury
condominium and single family housing. After graduating, he helped
develop laser guidance techniques as tunnel engineer during the
construction of a 17 mile long soft earth tunnel for the Detroit
Metropolitan Sewer Commission. Later, as President of his own steel
erection company, his firm fabricated and erected structural steel for
mid-rise office/condominium buildings, nursing homes, libraries and
bridges. Al has worked in several capacities, including Field
Superintendent, Project Manager, Project Partner, and Construction
Manager as well as an Independent Consultant representing the building
Owner.
Al
has a B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering from Oakland University, and
holds a Commonwealth of Massachusetts Unrestricted Supervisors license,
a Board of Building Regulations Concrete Technician license; a City of
Cambridge class II through IV license, a City of Boston A-2 High B and
C license and is a member of the Project Management Institute.
Thomas Andrew Bonfatti
– Senior Associate
Andrew
has over twenty years of experience in the construction industry,
having started his career as a Field Engineer with his family’s General
Contracting business in Norwood, Massachusetts. He later worked for
Gilbane Building Co., as a General Superintendent and Program manager
and before joining R.C. May & Associates, was a Senior Project
Manager for R.F. Walsh Company of Boston.
Andrew
has a Bachelor of Science in Building Technology from Wentworth
Institute of Technology in Boston, MA. Andrew has a City of Boston ABC
(ltd) license, and a Commonwealth of Massachusetts Construction
Supervisors license.
